Student discounts when you shop online in Saudi Arabia: where to find them, and how to use them

Where do student discounts show up when you shop online?

Student discounts in Saudi Arabia aren't as widespread as you might expect. One official example on the software side: Microsoft says students and educators with an eligible education email address can get Office 365 A1 for free, which includes the web versions of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote and Outlook. So ask your university first whether it is signed up to the programme.

Most of the student discounts you will find come from four places:

• Education pricing on devices: computers and tablets at a special price for students and teachers, offered by the maker in its own store.
• Software and services: office software or subscriptions at a student price, or free with an education email.
• Back-to-study offers: some stores run them for a short time before the school year starts.
• Telecom bundles and youth bank accounts: they appear from time to time, each with its own terms and age group.

Anything we couldn't find on an official page is written here as general advice, without pinning terms on a store that hasn't announced them.

How does education pricing work at Apple's Saudi store?

Apple has an education store on its Saudi site, with special prices on Mac, iPad and Apple Watch and on some accessories. The store says the offer is available to current and newly accepted students in higher education, and to teachers and staff at all levels.

The store also lists services at a student price: savings of up to 10% on AppleCare+ for Mac or iPad, Apple Creator Studio for new subscribers at SAR 9.99 a month for college students and educators, and a special student rate on Apple Music that comes with Apple TV for free. These offers need you to be verified as a student, and Apple says they are limited-time offers that may end at any time.

Prices change with every new device, so we don't list them here. Open the device's page in the education store and compare its price with the regular price, and with its price in a sale season if one is coming up.

The free Apple TV that comes with the Apple Music student plan ends when you no longer qualify or don't renew, so keep that in mind after you graduate.

Who can buy at Apple's education prices, and how many devices a year?

Apple's education terms for Saudi Arabia spell out who can buy: students at higher education institutions in the Kingdom, teachers and staff in higher and general education, and parents buying for a son or daughter at a higher education institution in the Kingdom.

There is a yearly limit on what you can buy at education prices:

• One desktop, one Mac mini and one MacBook.
• One display.
• Two iPads.
• One Apple Watch.
• Two accessories.

The same limits apply whether you buy online or from an authorised campus reseller. These purchases are not for resale, and Apple may refuse or cancel an order it suspects is.

What proof are you usually asked for to get a student discount?

The method changes from one place to another, but most come down to three things: a university email address on your university's domain, a valid student card, or an outside verification service the store sends you to. You may be asked for an acceptance letter if you have been accepted but haven't started yet.

One official example is an earlier eXtra offer for university students on Mac computers, from 3 August to 6 September 2025. It covered university students in the Kingdom and anyone with an official acceptance letter from a higher education institution there. In the showroom, staff took a copy of the university ID and matched it with the national ID. Online, you registered with your university's name and university email, and the code appeared after registration. Orders placed with a personal email such as Gmail or Hotmail were cancelled.

That offer has ended, and we mention it because it shows what you may be asked for. So keep your university email active, and keep a clear photo of your student card.

Only send a photo of your student card or ID through the official site of the store or the body offering the discount.

Can you combine a student discount with another promo code?

Don't assume so. Many offers allow just one discount per order, while some stack with the offers already running. The terms decide.

In the earlier eXtra offer, for example, the discount applied on top of running offers, and the page didn't say whether it could be combined with another promo code. This happens a lot: the terms answer one question and leave another open.

So if you have a promo code and a student offer at the same store, try each one on its own at checkout, compare the totals, and pick the lower one. If the store accepts both together, check the total before you confirm.

No student programme? Here are other ways to save

We found no special student programme in the guides to our ten stores. But you can still save there in other ways that suit students too:

• A first-order code: if you have never ordered from a store, you may find a code for your first order. The table below shows who each of our codes is for today.
• Sale seasons: such as 11.11 and White Friday in November. Wait for them for a big purchase if you can.
• Cashback: some codes, such as noon's, give part of the amount back as credit to spend on a later order.
• Payment fees: paying in advance with a mada card saves you the cash on delivery fee at stores that charge one.

Before you buy a laptop for your studies, compare three prices: the education price if there is one, the store price with a promo code, and its price in a sale season.

What should you check before using a student offer?

A student offer is meant for you, but the special price isn't always the lowest. A few quick questions before you pay:

• Is the offer on the official site of the store or the maker? Avoid links that reach you in messages from senders you don't know.
• Is the offer still running? Most student offers last for a set period.
• How big is the difference from the regular price, and from the price in the next sale season?
• Is there a limit on the number of items or uses?
• Can you return the item on the same terms? Read the return policy before you buy.
• Will you need to verify again? Some student subscriptions end when you are no longer a student.

Keep a copy of the invoice and of the offer's terms on the day you buy; you may need them if you return the item.
